A Grasshopper is a type of herbivorous insect of the order Orthoptera.
Grasshoppers can jump long distances with their powerful back legs and are also capable of flight.
Swarming grasshoppers are called locusts.
In many places around the world, grasshoppers are eaten. They are a good source of protein. Supposedly, many countries instruct military personnel to collect grasshoppers to eat when they get lost and run out of food provisions.
